Prince Louis Makes His Royal Christmas Debut

Prince Louis is spreading Christmas cheer!

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s youngest child joined his parents and siblings — Prince George and Princess Charlotte — at the royal family’s holiday church outing on Sunday, making his official debut at the annual event. Although Louis, 4, appeared to attend a church service at St Mary Magdalene last year, COVID-19 precautions have prevented the royal family from their traditional walk and meeting with members of the public.

The young royal wore a long navy jacket over shorts with knee socks – the traditional look for boys in the British royal family, which Prince George also regularly wore until he got a little older and started wearing pants.

It’s also their first royal Christmas outing as a family of five, and this year marks William and Kate’s debut as the Prince and Princess of Wales. After Queen Elizabeth’s death in September, King Charles officially granted titles to his eldest son and daughter-in-law.

Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7, made their Christmas debut with the Royal Family in 2019. Wales’ two oldest children are now old enough to join their families at events including their grandfather Prince Philip’s memorial service in March. Her grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s funeral is also in September.

Prince Louis made waves in June when he attended events with his family to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee, marking her historic 70 years on the throne. The three children rode together on their first public horse-drawn carriage ride for Trooping the Color and waved enthusiastically to the crowds lining the street before heading to the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a flypast.

Prince Louis also took part in the platinum jubilee pageant and went viral for his adorable antics (from sitting on Grandpa Charles’ lap to making faces at his mother!). Following the incident, Prince William and Kate joked on social media, “We all had an incredible time, especially Louis…”

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were the new children at the school in September, who started at Lambbrook School after the family moved from Kensington Palace in London to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. Throughout December, Lambruk had plenty of Christmas activities to keep the royal children busy.

According to the school’s website, “Christmas celebrations and occasions make it even more special for our students, with every child performing in a Christmas program including Christenings, Nativity, Pre Prep House Singing Competitions and of course our end of term carol service.”
