Entertainment calendar: Class Act Theater presents Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas: The Musical’


Santa Storytime:

For three- to five-year-olds and their parents, the Malcolm Purvis Library in Magnolia is presenting a personal family storytime event featuring Santa Claus on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Admission is free, but online registration of children is encouraged as space is available. is limited.

The event includes a reading of a Christmas story and photos with Santa. Guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes before the start time of the event and no entry will be allowed after five minutes.

Christmas Jazz:

Joe Burlison’s Christmas Jazz Concert at Dosey Do The Big Barn on December 14th at 8pm. Ticket prices start at $18.

Burlison leads a big band that celebrates the season with timeless favorites.

Calendar Men:

Spring firefighters appearing in the 2023 Spring Firefighter Calendar will meet and greet fans at The Island Grill in City Place on Dec. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m.

During the event, calendars can be purchased and autographed. Proceeds benefit the Spring Firefighter Assistance Fund and Friends of County Pets.

Networking Lunch:

The Cy-Fair Express Network presents its annual Christmas Luncheon and Gift Exchange on Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Marriott Springhill Suites on Northwest Freeway. Advance tickets are $30 or $35 at the door.

Class Act Theater presents Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas: The Musical,” which runs through Dec. 17. Ticket prices start at $20.

Performances are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30pm until December 17. The musical is based on the Paramount Pictures film and includes the standards “Blue Skies” and “I Love”. A Piano”, “How Deep is the Sea.”

Holiday shenanigans:

“Holiday Follies 2022” presented by Stageworks Main Stage continues through December 18. Tickets for adults start at $35.

The show celebrates the entertainers who brought magic to the Christmas season and was inspired by the vaudeville and follies shows of decades past. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3pm until December 18. Performances are directed by Adam Delka

Sleigh Ride:

Santa will make two tours of the local area on the new Spring Fire Department Ladder 75 on December 17th from 11am to 2pm and from 3pm to 6pm.

On fire engine sleigh rides, Santa will tour local neighborhoods and shopping centers and deliver gifts to local children with the help of local volunteers.

Local folk rock:

Houston folk-rock bands Brightwire, Grifters & Shills will open at Lone Pint Brewery in Magnolia on December 17th at 6 p.m.

Houston Chronicle music critic Joey Guevara called Brightwire’s “Cracked, Flawed and Flawed” one of the best local albums of 2021, and they’ve followed that up with a new EP this year. Grifters & Shils are a married duo who have been playing together since meeting in 2008; They play guitar and bass, sing about colorful trails and ragged miles and cover a bit of Lightnin’ Hopkins.

Vince King:

Houston performing artist Vince King will honor Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin with a Christmas-themed concert on December 22nd and 23rd at 7pm at Main Street Crossing in Tomball. Tickets for tables start at $39.

King is an award-winning Elvis tribute artist who lives in Pearland and faithfully performs Sinatra and Martin hits. In February, he will entertain guests on a three-day Caribbean cruise.

Light Park:

The Light Park at Hurricane Harbor Splashtown will continue until January 1 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. daily. Admission starts at $29 per vehicle.

The drive through interactive holiday light experience features millions of animated LED lights, including a drive thru tunnel advertised as the largest tunnel of its kind in the world. All the lights are synchronized to broadcast music on a low-power FM radio station that guests can tune into once in the park. A similar exhibit by the same group is available at Katy’s Typhoon Texas Water Park.

Four newcomers:

Four Freshmen will perform at The Centrum on December 31 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45.

Presented by the Cypress Creek Foundation for the Arts and Community Enrichment, the annual New Year’s Eve concert features selections from the great American songbook by a quartet playing drums, bass, guitar and trumpet.

Masquerade Party:

Whiskey River North offers a New Year’s Masquerade Party with drink specials and live DJs. Cover is $10, but free before 10pm if you register on the guest list online.
